It is my proud privilege to be associated with the process for the formation of Alumni Association of the College of fisheries, CAU, Lembucherra, as founder faculty of the college, which perhaps, would go in a long way to develop horizontal and vertical linkagesamongst the entire fraternity of fisheries in the country. This in turn may create more opportunities for the professionals to participate with a great vigour for the development of fisheries in the region.

The College of Fisheries, Lembucherra, a constituent college of Central Agricultural University, Imphal, was established on 3rd October 1998 and become the 12th Fisheries College of the Country and Second Fisheries College in North Eastern Region. The college has the mission, goal and mandate ofimparting quality education, need based research and extension programmes to benefit the people of the North Eastern States. The college has already developed an impressive infrastructure in terms of well equipped laboratories and instructional farm facilities for conducting teaching and research programmes of UG and PG students and training to the line department officials and fish farmers. During the past one and half decade, the college has attained a prominent position nationally in terms of teaching excellencesand research in Fish and Fisheries Science. Till date,20 batches of UG students, thirteen batches of PG students and 2 batches of PhD students have passed out from this college, who are spread over to the entire length and breadth of the country, besides some of them are in abroad.

I am happy to know that the Alumni of this College have made an earnest effort to bringing out a Directory of their fellow beings, which was a long felt need.Theachievements of the students of this college are exemplary and we are proud of them. Many of our former students have occupied responsible position in different Colleges, many Research Institutes and State Fisheries Departments. While several of our alumni have joined several internationally acclaimed research laboratories, KVKs, NGOs, business organisations and some have opted higher studies in abroad.

Compiling all names, addresses and their brief bio-data to synthesise a directory, requires earnest effort, a good amount of time and perseverance. Dr. Pradyut Biswas, and his team need to be complimented for making it possible to bring out such a publication through their sincere efforts. The directory will definitely help the users to communicate and interact with each other and develop a bond of love, affection, fellow feelings and sweet remembrance. I wish all of them a bright future and great success in life.
